Mr. Marek is a man who has worked hard and honestly all his life, often at two jobs, to provide his family with a modest but stable life. He never asked for help, always tried to be resourceful. A week ago, after returning from work, he received a letter from a bailiff. His heart stopped. He was threatened with seizure of his modest bank account due to a debt that was absolutely not his. The amount stated in the letter was astronomical for him, paralyzing. First there was shock and disbelief, then growing panic. He was overwhelmed by paralyzing fear of incomprehensible regulations, the soulless bureaucratic machine and the vision of losing everything. He felt cornered and completely lost. Mr. Marek's story is fictional, but we created it based on hundreds of real cases that show how helpless a person feels when confronted with the system.

It was precisely such stories that motivated me to act. As president of the foundation, I focus on developing digital tools every day, because I believe that technology can give real power to those who feel deprived of it. My answer to Mr. Marek's problem is therefore not direct help in one case, but creating a solution that can help thousands of people in similar situations.
